Dance presentation

Our class will be presenting a short dance tomorrow at the character ed assembly for optimism. We decided to do this just few days ago since dancing makes us happy 🙂 You are welcome to come and watch. The assembly starts at 2:00pm

Friday!

Spring into Clean is Friday morning first thing. We are asking each child to bring in a plastic bag to gather garbage in. Gloves will be provided.
Friday is also our Spring dance, it is beach themed! (Please follow the dress code) We are collecting food items to donate to a shelter in Barrie. There won’t be any concessions for sale at our part of the dance.

So much learning going on!

We had a great day full of learning. The windy morning lead to learning about how kites fly. We worked on journals and beginning sounds in language. In science we talked about static electricity and lightning and what a perfect day to discuss it! We ended the day with new sensory activities.

Fire alarm

The fire alarm went off today! Turns out it was dust in the stair well causing issues- thank goodness that’s all. The children were outside chilly and with muddy indoor shoes. Thanks to the Grade 8 students who huddled around our little ones to keep them warm for the 15 minutes. Ms. MacKenzie and I had a laugh as we washed 24 pairs of indoor shoes off 🙂

Hallway behaviour presentation

The students were feeling frustrated with classes walking by our door and being noisy. They decided to do something about it! As a class they created a Hallway Behaviour message and delivered it to every class in the school. These kids are amazing!

Important check-ups

Today the students had a dental screening check up. This got me thinking about other important check ups that are highly recommended for children in kindergarten. Did you know that 1 in 4 children have vision problems! Please check into the Eye See… Eye Learn program that provides free eye exams for J.K. students http://www.optom.on.ca/OAO/ESEL/AboutESEL.aspx. Another important check-up is for your little ones hearing. You can set up a free hearing exam through Listen Up Barrie or if you have concerns about their hearing already please speak with your doctor to get a referral to see an audiologist.
Remember early detection is key to helping your little one succeed 🙂
